Kaitlyn Zarycki Named GLIAC Freshman of the Year

GLIAC -- Following a great first season for the SVSU Women's Basketball team, guard Kaitlyn Zarycki has been named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year for the 2019-20 season. Zarycki landed a spot on the All-GLIAC Second Team as well for the Cardinals. 

Kaitlyn becomes the program's fifth GLIAC Freshman of the Year and the first since 2015-16. The All-GLIAC honor is the first for the program since the 2016-17 campaign as well.

Zarycki had a standout first season for the Cardinal Women's Basketball team. The 5-8 guard from Niles, Michigan led Saginaw Valley in scoring with an average of 13.4 ppg, adding 4.6 rpg and 2.6 apg in her 29 games played. Zarycki recorded double-digit scoring figures in 20 games and had over 20 points in six contests, leading Saginaw Valley State University to its first GLIAC Tournament since the 2016-17 campaign.

SVSU finished the season with an overall record of 12-17 and registered an 8-12 mark in league action.
