Williamson named GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week following opening weekend

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams opened their season last weekend, hosting the SVSU Holiday Open at the Ryder Center. 

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced Wednesday that Cheyenne Williamson has been named Athlete of the Week following her performances.

Williamson, a native of Essexville, Mich., set a new school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a winning time of 8.38 seconds. She also took first place in the long jump with a leap of 6.21 meters, and sixth in the shot put with a toss of 11.94. Williamson was also apart of the winning 4x400-meter relay team that had a time of 3:55.75. 

Williamson and the Cardinals will return to action following the holiday break, hosting the SVSU Classic at 2:30 pm on Friday, Jan. 14 at the Ryder Center.
