TIFFIN, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University women's track and field team sent multi-event athletes to the Tiffin Reggie Thomas Classic, with competition starting Friday in Tiffin, Ohio.
Lauren Huebner, the reigning Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week, had a standout performance on day one, as she leads the women's heptathlon through four events with a total of 3,060 points.
Huebner finished first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.67, followed up with a third-place performance in the high jump with a best of 1.56m. She was fourth in the shot put with a best of 10.60m and closed her day with a dominant showing in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line first with a time of 24.68 seconds.
Kelsey Landra is 10th for SVSU through four events with 1,761 points. Her best event on Friday came in the 200-meter dash where she finished fifth in a time of 26.87 seconds.
The competition closes on Saturday in Tiffin, Ohio.
