Cardinal women reign at W-C-W Tri-Meet

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's track and field team hosted its fourth indoor meet in four weeks, welcoming Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes Wayne State University and Northern Michigan University for the W-C-W Tri-Meet Friday at the SVSU Fieldhouse.

Three Cardinals hit NCAA Provisional Marks at the meet including Alexa Keiser in the 1-mile run. 


  • Keiser ran away with first place in the 1-mile run, crossing the line in 4:54.61, nearly 30 seconds better than the next finisher. The time hit the NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark.

  • Cassie Campbell was first in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.95 seconds. 

  • Ciera Weber took the top spot in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.62. She also finished in a tie with teammate Brooke Sutyak for the top spot in the pole vault, clearing a best height of 3.52m. 

  • Reigning GLIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week and USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week Cheyenne Williamson surpassed the NCAA Provisional Qualifying standard in the long jump with a best of 5.80m. She also won the 60-meter dash in 7.57 seconds, an NCAA Provisional time. 

  • Jenna Picard was first in the 800-meter run in 2:15.15.

  • Alona Olshevska crossed the line first in the 200-meter dash in 25.09 seconds.

  • Arianna Wegienka took the 300-meter run in 10:20.90.

  • Ali Aldrich continued her dominant indoor season winning the shot put (13.60m) and weight throw (18.68m, an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark).

  • The 4x300-meter relay team of Kelsey Landra, Weber, Williamson, and Campbell took first in a time of 2:49.03.
