EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Saginaw Valley State University senior softball student-athletes Courtney Reeves and Meredith Rousse have earned Division Two Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region honors for the second straight season. Reeves was named to the All-Midwest Region First Team at the utility position while Rousse was named All-Midwest Region Second Team at the second base position.
Reeves, a 2017 First Team All-Midwest Region designated player and D2CCA All-American Honorable Mention honoree, earns her second straight first team all-region honor. She finished the 2018 campaign with a .336 average, knocking 14 home runs and collecting 43 RBI. She added 10 doubles and slugged .711 while posting an on-base percentage of .479. Reeves now has 29 career home runs in her two seasons playing for SVSU, giving her solo possession of the all-time record. She reached base a team-best 29 times via walk as well.
Rousse earns second team all-midwest honors from the D2CCA for the second consecutive season and has already been named to the NFCA All-Midwest Region First Team at the second base position. She led the team with a .376 average, hitting eight home runs while belting 19 doubles. She added 18 walks and 14 stolen bases while scoring a team-high 43 runs. She holds the all-time record for the program with 50 doubles and her eight home runs, 40 RBI, 19 doubles and 70 hits are career season highs. She ranks inside the top-10 in at-bats, hits, doubles, home runs, runs, steals, RBI, walks and batting average.
Being a first team honoree, Reeves will move on and be in consideration for a possible second straight season earning D2CCA All-American honors. Both seniors recently led the Cardinals to their second straight NCAA Division II Postseason appearance in the Midwest Region #2 Tournament in Springfield, Illinois.
