Cardinals Finish in Seventh Place at Otter Creek Invite

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team finished the Otter Creek Invitational hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside on Monday (April 1). The Cardinals ended up in seventh place with a 611 (+35) total after firing 302 (+14) on the final day.

The event featured many of the top teams in the region as SVSU improved their finish by two spots from a year ago.

Sophomore Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich.) and senior Dustin Vogl (Bay City, Mich. / Western) both finished tied for 12th at 150 (+6) after Skidmore shot 76 in round two, while Vogl led the way with a 2-over-par 74.

Junior Eric Gandy (Midland, Mich. / Bullock Creek) bounced back on the final day with a 3-over-par 75 to finish with a 154 (+10) total. 

Kreg Sherman (Clio, Mich.) rounded out the SVSU top four scores by firing 77 (+5) on Monday to end up at 157 (+13), while Wyatt Drost (Charlevoix, Mich.) finished with an 82 for a 162 (+18) total.

Adam Hansen (Auburn, Mich. / Bay City Western) and Ryan Thomas (Flushing, Mich.) recorded rounds of 76 and 80, respectively, competing as individuals in the final round. Hansen finished at 152 (+8) as Thomas completed 36 holes in 159 (+15).

The SVSU golfers will be back in action this weekend for their second NCAA Regional in Georgetown, Ky.
