Cardinal Golfers Sit 5th After Day One of GLIAC Fall Event

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University golf team posted a +11 round of 299 on day one of the GLIAC Fall Event today (Sept. 23). The Cardinals currently sit in fifth place, seven shots behind Wayne State University.

The Cardinals were led by sophomore Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich. / Home school) who carded an even par round of 72 to sit in a tie for sixth place, two shots behind the current leader.

Senior Dustin Vogl (Bay City, Mich. / Western HS) followed with a solid round of 75 (+3), which currently puts him in a tie for 28th position at the 7,003-yard, par 72 HawksHead Golf Course layout.

Juniors Adam Hansen (Auburn, Mich. / Bay City Western HS) and Eric Gandy (Midland, Mich. / Bullock Creek HS) are both tied for 36th place after each produced identical rounds of 76 (+4).

The Cardinal squad was rounded out by Wyatt Drost (Charlevoix, Mich.) as he fired a six-over-par 78 and stands in 55th place heading into day two.

Round two of the GLIAC Fall Event will start at 9:00 AM on Monday (Sept. 24th) morning.
