    NORMAN, Okla. – The 2008-09 Saginaw Valley State University golf team has been selected to the 2009 All-Academic Team for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

    BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State senior golfer Kasey Hocquard (Cheboygan, Mich.) has been named to the First Team All-GLIAC team, the league announced today (May 5).
  • Cardinals Take 14th at Great Lakes Regional

    NOBLESVILLE, Ind.- The SVSU golf team traveled to Indiana (April 18-19) to compete in the Great Lakes Regional #3, a two-round tournament featuring 19 teams. The Cardinals were unable to get into a groove and came home with a 14th place finish, shooting a 632. Ferris came in on top with a score of 598, Indianapolis finished second with a 604, Grand Valley came in third with a 605 and Bellarmine shot 608 and came in fourth.
  • Cardinals Shoot Well at the Jewell

    GEORGETOWN, KY. – The SVSU golf team traveled to Kentucky (April 4-5) to compete in the Jewell, a two round tournament featuring 20 teams, the largest the Cardinals have competed in so far this spring. Although the golfers put up there best scores of the season, none of the Cardinals shot over 79 for a round, they were unable to do enough to finish in the top ten and came home with a score of 596, 20 strokes over par, and a twelfth place finish. Ferris State finished in first with an 11 under par 565, good enough to separate them by only two strokes from both Grand Valley and the University of Indianapolis, who both shot 567 and tied for second. Fourth place went to Wayne State University who shot an even par 576.

    MIDLAND, Mich. – The SVSU men’s golf team was in action this past weekend, traveling to Midland to compete in the Northwood University Invite.

    ASHLAND, Ohio - The SVSU men’s golf team was in action this past weekend, traveling to Ohio to compete in the Ashland University Invitational.
  • Golfers Compete in the E-Z Go Spring Classic

    FALMOUTH, KY. - The SVSU men’s golf team traveled to Kentucky to compete in the E-Z Go Spring Classic, a two round tournament featuring 13 teams, this past weekend. The Cardinals were unable to find a rythym on either day of the contest and finished in 12th place with a score of 611, 35 strokes over par. The University of Indianapolis rolled to an easy victory over the competition and finished at three under par with a score of 573, 10 strokes ahead of second place Grand Valley. Bellarmine finished in third at 588, and Northern Kentucky came in with a 593, putting them in fourth.
  • Men’s Golf Shoots Well at Migration Classic

    Tallahassee, Fla. - The SVSU men’s golf team traveled to Florida last week (Mar. 12-14) to compete in the Migration Classic, a one round tournament, against Ashland University. Although Saginaw shot well and finished at 11 strokes over par with a score of 299, Ashland was able to come away with the victory by shooting nine over par with a score of 297.
  • Mens Golf Finishes 4th at GLIAC Championships

    BAY CITY, Mich - The SVSU men’s golf team held a one shot edge going into the final round of the 2008 Men’s GLIAC Tournament, but cooled off during round three as they shot a third round total of six over par to finish the tournament with a combined score of 870, six back of winning school Grand Valley State. The top five teams in the Championships broke the GLIAC scoring record for the three day tournament of 873.
  • Cards Finish Seventh at The Arendsen

    ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men’s golf team took seventh place at The Arendsen at The Meadows Golf Course led by senior Kasey Hocquard (Cheboygan, Mich.) who finished tied for 11th overall by shooting 5-over par during the two-day tournament.

    SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- The SVSU Mens golf team competed in the NCAA DII Regional held at HawkHead in South Haven, Mich. The Cardinals finished tied for seventh in the field of 21 with a two round total of 582 with GLIAC member Wayne State.
  • Cardinals Tied for Fourth at NCAA Regional

    SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University golf team is tied for fourth after day one at the NCAA DII Regional Tournament #1 with a three under 285. Leading the way for the Cardinals was Kasey Hocquard (Cheboygan, Mich.) with a round of 68. Junior Dieter Schulz (Port Huron, Mich.) shot a first round 71, while teammate Brian King (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) entered the the clubhouse with a 72. Nate Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) finished his round with a score of 74. Sophomore Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) finished the scoring out for the Cardinals on day one with a 75.
