TJ Lynch joined the SVSU Football staff in 2020. He serves as the run game coordinator and defensive line coach for the Cardinals.
In 2021, the Cardinals finished the year with a 7-4 overall record and 4-3 GLIAC mark. Lynch helped Tommy Scott earn GLIAC Offensive Back of the Year honors, as well as First Team All-GLIAC. Overall the Cardinals rushed for 156.8 yards per game, which ranked fourth in the conference. SVSU also put up 21 touchdowns on the ground, with 12 coming from Scott. The 21 rushing touchdowns by the Cardinal offense ranked third in the GLIAC behind Ferris State and Grand Valley State.
On the defensive line, Javarree Jackson, Nathan Talakai, and Victor Nelson all earned Second Team All-GLIAC honors for the first time in their careers under Coach Lynch. Talakai ranked fifth in the GLIAC with 5.5 sacks during the season.
Besides his coaching duties, TJ serves the Cardinal football program as the Director of Player Personnel and NFL Liaison.
Prior to joining SVSU, Lynch has had coaching stops at Ferris State University, Davenport University, Faulkner University, St. Joseph College, and Bluefield College. Lynch began his coaching career at Hephzibah High School in Georgia where he was the defensive line coach and defensive coordinator.
TJ graduated from Western Michigan University in 2012 and was a member of the football team while there.
