UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University football team has announced its 2022 schedule.
The Cardinals will open the 2022 season on the road at Lindenwood University (Mo.), which was ranked No. 23 in the final 2021 national poll. The game is set for Thursday, Sept. 1 in St. Charles, Mo.
The home slate opens with a rematch against Bowie State University (No. 8 in the final national poll of 2021). The Cardinals host the Bulldogs on Sept. 10.
SVSU will be on the road for the next three, starting with the Axe Bowl at Northwood University on Sept. 17, followed by a nonconference matchup with Michigan Tech on Sept. 24 in Houghton, Mich. The 2022 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule opens for SVSU against Grand Valley State University (No. 5 in the final DII National poll of 2021) on Oct. 1 in Allendale, Mich.
SVSU returns home to welcome the 2021 NCAA DII National Champion Ferris State University on Oct. 8 at Wickes Stadium. After a bye week, the rest of the schedule continues with a road game at Wayne State University on Oct. 22, a home game with Davenport University on Oct. 29, and a final road matchup of the regular season at Northern Michigan University on Oct. 5. The regular season concludes with Senior Day against Michigan Tech on Oct. 12 at Wickes Stadium.
