Jason Ball enters the 2021-22 season marking the start of his fourth year with the Cardinals and first as the Pitching Coach.

Ball served Recruiting Coordinator and Hitting Coach in 2021, helping guide a young Cardinal team to an even 17-17 record and a berth in the GLIAC Tournament. SVSU had three hitters earn All-GLIAC honors during the season, including GLIAC Freshman of the Year, Hayden Jatczak. Jatczak hit .379 with 10 doubles and two home runs in his freshman campaign.

Ball helped coach the Cardinals to a .308 conference batting average, which was a 52 point increase from the previous conference season in 2019. The lineup featured 6 guys who hit over .300.

A native of Sandusky, Michigan, Ball was a left-handed pitcher for St. Clair County Community College for 2 seasons. Ball then went on to be a Volunteer Assistant at Central Michigan University from 1999-2001 where he worked closely with current SVSU Head Coach Steve Jaksa.

Following CMU, Ball was an associate scout for the Milwaukee Brewers for 3 years. He has also coached at Essexville Garber and Nouvel Catholic Central, along with being involved with the Saginaw Bay Riverdawgs/Michigan Select travel organization.

Ball received his bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Coaching from CMU. His wife Jill, a proud SVSU alum, is a school administrator. They have a son and daughter – Nathan and Morgan.
