UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The SVSU Cardinal volleyball team fell at home to the University of Findlay Oilers by a score of 3-0 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matchup.
The Cardinals lost a close first set by a count of 25-22. The Oilers would go on to claim the next two games by scores of 25-15 and 25-17, respectively.
Redshirt freshman Kelly Vellucci (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) had a double-double, recording 13 assists and 10 digs on the day to earn Chili's "Player of the Match" honors for SVSU.
Senior Nicole Adam (Sterling Heights, Mich./Sterling Heights HS) added 12 assists in the match. Sophomore Morgan Eddy (Grand Blanc, Mich./Goodrich HS) posted a team-high four blocks on the defensive end for the Cardinals.
With the loss, Saginaw Valley falls to an even 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the GLIAC while Findlay improves to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in league play.
The Cardinals return to action Tuesday, as they travel to the U.P. for the second time in just over a week to face the Lake Superior State University Lakers. The match is set to begin at 7:00 pm in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
