URBANA, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team posted a 2-0 record on the second day of the Urbana Invitational to sweep its weekend matches.
After defeating St. Joseph's and Lake Erie yesterday, the Cardinals beat Urbana by a 3-0 score before claiming a 3-2 victory over Bellarmine.
In the Urbana match, the Cards won with scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-14.
Against Bellarmine, Saginaw Valley fell in a 0-2 hole, dropping the first two sets by close scores of 24-26 and 23-25. SVSU would respond by rattling-off victories in the next three sets by margins of 26-24, 25-15 and 15-5.
The 4-0 record over the weekend puts SVSU's record at 5-3 overall on the season as it heads into GLIAC play, beginning with a trip to the Upper Peninsula to face Northern Michigan (9/20) and Michigan Tech (9/21). Game times for those matches are slated for 7 pm and 4 pm, respectively.
