Tennis Falls at Northwood, 8-1

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State
University women’s tennis team fell in Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action today (Sept. 16)
to Northwood University by a score of 8-1.
The Cardinals would pick up their lone win on the afternoon when 4
singles Jessica Stone (Flushing, Mich. / Flushing HS) was awarded
victory after Kim-Jenny Dinh retired with an injury. In doubles
action the team of Yunjiao Shangguan and Debra Hammond (Goodrich,
Mich. / Goodrich HS)at 1 doubles battled the team of Neumann and
Stephan, but eventually fell, 8-4.
With the loss the Cardinals move to 0-4 on the season overall and
0-4 in the GLIAC, while Northwood improves to 3-0 overall on the
season and 3-0 in the GLIAC. SVSU will return to the courts this
weekend (Sept. 18-20) when they compete in the ITA Great Lakes
Regional.
