BAY CITY — The GLIAC conference offices released the first round schedule for the Women's Soccer championships Sunday night after conference play had wrapped up. Saginaw Valley State grabbed a sixth place finish in regular season play and will travel over to the number three seed Ferris State on Halloween night.
The Cardinals met up with the Bulldogs on the road late September in a GLIAC match up, with FSU coming out on top in a tight 2-1 win.
Finishing out the season, Ferris State grabbed a third place seed in the tournament with a 11-7 overall record, 6-3 in GLIAC play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-0 win against #1 in the region Grand Valley State on Friday and are currently on a two game winning streak. FSU is currently eighth in the NCAA midwest region.
The number sixth seed Saginaw Valley State posted an impressive 7-0 victory against Northwood on senior day (Oct. 27) to round out the regular season games. The Cards ended the season with a 9-6-1 overall record, 4-4-1 in the GLIAC.
The top eight teams in the GLIAC are picked for the conference tournament, with top four teams hosting their respective quarterfinal games. Saginaw Valley will play in Big Rapids versus FSU beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday night (Oct. 31). The semifinals will be held at the highest remaining seed beginning on Friday, Nov. 3, followed by the Championship match on Sunday, Nov. 5.
