Cardinals and Bulldogs End in a 1-1 Tie

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team competed today (Sept. 23) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match against Ferris State University.  The teams would end in a 1-1 tie, in a game that featured difficult weather conditions consisting of rain and chilly temperatures.

Saginaw Valley's (2-1-4, 1-0-3) goal came at 28:27 of the first half when Kellsey Poston (New Boston, Mich. / Huron HS) found the back of the net for the first time this season off an assist from Charley Porter (Midland, Mich.) for the only SVSU goal of the game. The Lady Cardinals held Ferris State scoreless until the 60 minute mark, when Riley Wood turned a deflection into a goal, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie. Neither team would be able to break the 1-1 tie in the overtime sessions.

Sophomore goalkeeper Laura Ivezaj (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester HS) saved seven of the eight shots she faced on the afternoon in net.

The Cardinals will return to action on Friday (Sept. 28) on the road against Ashland University at 7:00 P.M.
