CROWN POINT, Ind. -- The Cardinal Women's Golf team claimed the championship at the 2019 Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invitational, hosted at the White Hawk Country Club in Crown Point, Indiana. Emily Barker won medalist honors as well to lead SVSU to its second team title of the season.
SVSU followed up an opening day score of 328, where it had a one stroke lead, with a day two 310 to finish 12 strokes ahead of Davenport University.
Barker started the day tied for seventh after a Saturday score of 83. She sealed her first title with an even-par 72 to finish at +11. That gave her a two-stroke win over Davenport's Jessica Niemiec after firing the lowest round on the day.
Alexa Marston was named to the all-tournament team as well, finishing third and three strokes behind Barker with twin rounds of 79.
Right behind Boyd was Keegan Miller, who finished 12th overall with rounds of 83-83 in the event.
Saginaw Valley will have its final tournament of the fall season on Saturday and Sunday, as the Cardinals will play in the Davenport Panther Invitational. That event will be held in Battle Creek, Michigan.
