UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – This month's SVSU Women's Basketball "Get to Know" spotlight is freshman guard, Alex Green. Alex is off to a great 2012-13 campaign starting at point guard in all three of SVSU's games this season. She is fourth on the team in total minutes played, averages 1.7 assists per game and is second in steals.
Below are a few comments from Head Coach, Jamie Pewinski, about Alex Green:
"Alex is the total package. She is a great student, a great point guard and most importantly an unbelievable person. She was voted by her teammates as one of our three captains. To be named captain as a freshman and have that respect from your teammates truly shows the type of character and work ethic Alex possesses.
She is one of our hardest workers and a player that is only beginning to scratch the surface. Alex is a proven winner and will be a great leader for years to come. There's no doubt we have high expectations for her and what I love is she has even higher ones for herself. We are lucky to have her as part of our program."

Below are some of Alex's thoughts about SVSU, her Cardinal teammates & a glimpse into what matters most outside of basketball:
What is the best part of campus?
I love the Ryder Center and the Library! I spend the majority of my time at both of those places so it's a good thing I like them!
What is your favorite movie?
It is definitely…Remember the Titans
What is your favorite quote?

My mom's Shepard's Pie…thanks mom!!!
What is one thing about you people don't normally know about you?
I am mature enough to admit this…I was a huge tomboy when I was little! My hair was really short and everyone thought I was a boy...some of my teammates (Mikayla) like to remind me of it.
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
My greatest inspiration is no doubt my parents…my mom is superwoman..she would give the clothes off her back to a complete stranger…my dad makes the most out of any situation presented to him…their work ethic and the endless love they show to me and others is so inspiring!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Going to Meijer with Mikayla and the Canadians (Danielle & Katelyn Carriere)
What is your career ambition?
After SVSU, I want to be a coach at the college level or a team physician
Why did you come to SVSU?
There wasn't much I didn't like about SVSU…I love the coaches, I love the players on the team, campus is awesome and the atmosphere is great…it has turned out being better than I could ever ask for…I love it here!!!
