SVSU Falls To Detroit, 85-61

Detroit, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball team traveled to Detroit today (Nov. 4) for its second and final exhibition contest and came away empty-handed with an 85-61 loss.  

The Cardinals were led in scoring by junior Kelley Wesp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este HS), who recorded 13 points in the SVSU effort.  Senior Jenna Saarela (Saugatuck, Mich.) had 12 points while hitting on four-of-seven from behind the arc.  Freshman Jasmine Kennedy (Harper Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North HS) was the only other Cardinal to reach double-digits in scoring with ten points.  Freshman Grace Herzog (Linden, Mich./Powers Catholic HS) led the rebounding attack with a dozen on the night while junior transfer Rhonda Gusa (Harbor Beach, Mich./Delta CC) had 10.

This concludes the exhibition season this fall for SVSU, as the Cardinals open regular season play on Sunday, Nov. 15 against Urbana University.
