Cardinals Fall to Northwood
| MIDLAND, Mich. - The
Saginaw Valley State women’s basketball team lost to the
Timberwolves of Northwood University today (Feb. 7) 67-45. Sophomore forward Brittany Burkhardt (West Bloomfield, Mich.) knocked down 10 points to lead the Cardinals in scoring, while freshman guard Marah Kyle (Bluffton, Ind.) scored eight points, and senior point guard Tricia Everett (Saginaw, Mich.) and sophomore guard Kelley Wesp (Cincinnati, Ohio) each contributed seven on the night. The loss drops SVSU’s record to 2-19 overall and 1-15 in the GLIAC, while Northwood improves to 17-4 overall and 12-4 in the GLIAC. Saginaw Valley State will return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 12) as they take on Ashland in the first of two Pink Wave games to show support for the American Cancer Society. Game 2 will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 14) when breast cancer survivors from across Michigan will be recognized during a halftime presentation. |
