Track & Field Rounds-out GLIAC Championship Action

ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Cardinal Track & Field teams rounded-out final competition on Friday (May 4) at the 2018 GLIAC Outdoor Championships, held at Ashland University. The Men's team finished in 4th place, earning 101 points. On the Women's side, the Cardinals were 8th with 40.

  • Parker Eisengruber was the second Cardinal to claim a GLIAC championship, taking first in the 1,500 meter finals. He ran to a time of 4:24.26 to score 10 points for SVSU. Teammate Tom Goforth was another scorer in 7th place, finishing with two points and a time of 4:25.15. 
  • Goforth added a 7th place finish in the 5,000 to score for SVSU with a time of 15:56.72.
  • Travon Phillips finished 4th in the 100 dash, turning in a time of 10.39 seconds. He added a 5th place outing in the 200, turning in a time of 21.18.
  • The 400 meter relay team finished 5th with a time of 41.46 seconds. Phillips, Jamelle Russell, Juan Bowers and Andrew Mudd teamed-up for that finish.
  • In the 400 dash, Carter Eckhardt placed 6th in the finals with a mark of 48.36.
  • The 800 finals had a pair of Cardinals racing, with Jordan Walters finishing 3rd in 1:55.86 and Riley Freeney 6th with a time of 1:57.51.
  • Cordell Richardson finished 8th in the 400 hurdles finals, recording a time of 57.71 seconds. 
  • The 1,600 meter relay team was 4th with a time of 3:18.28.
  • Ryan Kelly was the top performer in the shot put, scoring with a 7th place distance of 16.10 meters. 
  • Noah VanderVeen and Jonathan Johnson were 7th and 8th in the triple jump, scoring points with marks of 13.25 and 13.21 meters, respectively.

  • Jenna Keiser and Sydney Kreger scored for the SVSU Women in the 1,500 by taking 7th and 8th with marks of 4:56.15 and 5:01.06, respectively.
  • The 400 meter relay team scored after finishing 6th with a time of 49.53 seconds. That team consisted of Samantha Warren, Brooke Sutyak, Donna Jean Eschenbacher and Lauren Huebner
  • Huebner finished 4th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.99 seconds and 5th in the 400 hurdles in 1:02.16.
  • Morgan Fuerst was 4th in the finals of the 800, crossing the line in a time of 2:16.62.
  • Allison Dorr was the top finisher in the 5,000, finishing 7th and scoring points with her mark of 18:59.68.
  • The 1,600 relay team finished 6th, as Samantha Warren, Fuerst, Sarah Rezler and Huebner ran to a time of 4:05.71.

The Cardinals will have the opportunity to compete at last chance meets in advance of the 2018 NCAA Division II Championships, which are set to take place May 24-26 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
