SVSU Swimming & Diving Defeats Ashland and Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Mich. - SVSU's women's swimming and diving team defeated both Ashland and Hillsdale in a match hosted in Hillsdale's Jack McAvoy Natatorium. The women defeated Ashland 160-133 and Hillsdale 159-135. The men's team also notched in a victory, defeating Ashland 159-129.

The men's 200 yard medley relay team of Peter Lin, Shaun Yap, Michael Spears and Grayson Arnold took first, posting a time of 1:37.07.

Cardinals Tanner Peltier, Grayson Arnold, Michael Spears and Dalton Pokley recorded a first place win in the men's 400 yard freestyle with a mark of 3:15.34. 

Amanda Thielen finished first in all three of the individual races she competed in. Thielen posted times of 5:15.13 in the 500 yard freestyle, 10:41.19 in the 1,000 yard freestyle, and 59.02 in the 100 yard backstroke.

Lin also notched a first place win in the men's 500 yard freestyle, posting a 4:46.98. Lin took second in the 1,000 yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 9:56.76.

The men placed first and second in the 200 yard freestyle with Dalton Pokley marking a time of 1:48.19, followed by Tanner Peltier in second at 1:50.03.

Pokley took second for the men in the 200 yard fly with a mark of 2:00.31 and first in the 100 yard fly at 52.18. Spears followed in second place at 53.74.

Taylor Grashuis posted a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle, coming in at 1:59.39. Lydia Mattar also grabbed a second place win in the 100 yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:08.01.

Mattar took another top finish in the 200 yard breast stroke, finishing first with a time of 2:25.67.

Yap came in first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a mark of 57.24. Yap also took first in the 200 yard breaststroke and the 400 yard IM with times of 2:09.25 and 4:13.73, respectively.

Rebeca Martinez recorded a first place win in the 200 yard butterfly in 2:13.15. Martinez came in first again in the 200 yard backstroke with a mark of 2:10.92.

Arnold finished first in the men's 50 yard freestyle, coming in at 22.33.

Grashuis posted another second place win in the 100 yard freestyle, posting a time of 56.10.

Peltier recorded a time of 48.95 for a first place win in the 100 yard freestyle.
