UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University took a 1-0 series lead over the University of Indianapolis after the first game of the NCAA Division II Midwest Super Regional on Friday (May 15). The Cardinals came from behind to defeat the Greyhounds, 2-1, in the first game of the best-of-three series that will conclude on Saturday (May 16).

Beaubien Named Midwest Player of the Year; 1st Team with Kaiser
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Saginaw Valley State senior softball phenom Marsha Beaubien (Alpena, Mich.) was named the 2009 Daktronics, Inc. Midwest Region Player of the Year today (May 13), in a vote by the Midwest Region’s sports information directors. She also was named the First Team All Midwest along with junior Angela Kaiser (Waterford, Mich.). Sophomore pitcher Jade Fulton (Byron, Mich.) and senior Stacy Kraatz (Howell, Mich./Hartland H.S.) were named Second Team All Region.

Bigelow’s Solo Shot Gives Saginaw a Regional Championship
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State took on the Bulldogs of Ferris State this afternoon in the championship round of the NCAA Division II Softball Midwest Regional #2 Tournament, with the winner going on to face Indianapolis, who had defeated Wayne State University earlier in the day in Midwest Regional #1. Jade Fulton (Byron, Mich.) got the start for the Cardinals, twirling a two-hit three-strikeout shutout to send SVSU to the NCAA Division II Softball Super Regional on Friday and Saturday.

Cardinals Ranked #13 in Final Regular Season NFCA Cardinals Ranked #13 in Final Regular Season NFCA Poll
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University softball team broke back into this weeks NFCA Top 25 Poll in the No. 13 spot after winning the GLIAC Tournament this past weekend (May 1-3). Saginaw Valley is joined by GLIAC members Wayne State (Mich.) who holds the No. 18 spot and Ferris State who is ranked No. 21 in this weeks poll.

Saginaw Valley to Host Midwest Regional #2
INDIANAPOLIS - The Saginaw Valley State University softball team fresh off its 2009 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Championship was selected by the by the NCAA Division II Softball Committee along with 63 other teams to participate in the 2009 NCAA Division II Softball Regional Championships.

MIDLAND, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team continued its hot play in the 2009 GLIAC Tournament to capture the Cardinals first back-to-back championships since 1990 when the school won its third straight championship. Saginaw Valley defeated Wayne State 1-0 in the GLIAC Championship Game.

Cardinals Flying High Into Campionship Game, Clip Eagles 3-1
MIDLAND, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team clipped the Ashland Eagles by a score of 3-1 today (May 2) to advance to the GLIAC Championship Game. The Cardinals await the winner of the Ashland/Wayne State game for tomorrow’s game that is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM. This marks the second straight year that the Cardinals have advanced to the championship game through the winner’s bracket.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University softball team cracked this weeks NFCA Top 25 Poll in the No. 25 spot. Saginaw Valley joined GLIAC members Wayne State (Mich.) who holds the No. 19 spot and Ferris State who is ranked No. 6 in this weeks poll. The Cardinals pounded out 31 hits and scored 24 runs as they improved their GLIAC record to 4-0 with the convincing wins.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team rolled to two convincing wins over Lake Superior State University today (Mar. 25) at the SVSU Sports Complex. Cardinals use Hitting and Pitching to Garner Split on Day Five
KISSEMMEE, Fla. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team came up with a heartbreaking split on day five of the Rebel Spring Games that are being played in Kissimmee, Fla. The Cardinals got great pitching and loads of offense in their 13-0 opening game victory against Fayetteville State (NC), and would get great pitching in their battle with Northern Kentucky. The Cardinals fell by a score of 2-1 in the game that featured a great pitchers duel that ended in the eighth inning after the international tie break rule was enforced.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team put two complete games together today (Mar. 10), but could only manage a spilt on day four of the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. against Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State-Mankato. The Cardinals defeated Concordia in their first game of the day by a score of 5-4 before falling to a red hot Minnesota State-Mankato that has now won 13 straight games by a score of 2-1.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team once again managed to take the first game of the day but a comeback effort in game two fell short today (Mar. 8). SVSU defeated Quincy 7-1 in the opener before falling to Indianapolis in their second game by a score of 5-4.

In game one the Cardinals faced off with Saint Xavier and took the game 3-0 and in the second game of the day fell to Northern Kentucky by a score of 4-1
