KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The official All-Midwest Region teams have been announced by the United Soccer Coaches and the SVSU Men's Soccer program had five student-athletes named all-region. The Cardinals registered one first team honoree and landed two on the second and third teams, respectively.
Junior midfielder Connor Rutz was the team's lone member of the First Team. Rutz, who was named D2CCA All-Midwest Region on the second team, also earned All-GLIAC First Team honors this season. He led the team with seven goals and 16 points, including three game-winners.
Hart was named to the All-GLIAC First Team in 2017 as well. He helped anchor a defense that allowed just 0.67 goals per game this season. The Cardinals allowed just 11 goals in the regular season, a new program record.
Hamilton was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year after his breakout freshman campaign for SVSU. He earned All-GLIAC First Team plaudits as well, scoring five goals and adding three assists for 13 total points.
Keane, the 2017 GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year and All-GLIAC First Team selection, was also named to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team. He finished the season at 13-4-2 overall, recording seven solo shutouts and eight combined. The Cardinal defense allowed just 0.67 GAA this season. He now owns the SVSU program record for career victories, notching 28 in just two seasons. His 14 shutouts are also tops in program history.
Sinclair was named to the All-GLIAC First Team as a defender and helped lead the defense that allowed just 0.67 goals per game this season. The Cardinals allowed just 11 goals in the regular season, which marks a new program record.
