BAY CITY -- SVSU junior Men's Soccer student-athlete Connor Rutz has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week following his stellar weekend for the Cardinals.
Rutz has been stellar lately for the No. 13 Cardinals offensively. He made it three straight matches scoring first for SVSU, including both contests this weekend. He had the first goal in the team's 2-2 draw at Tiffin on Friday before netting both of the Cardinals' scores in Sunday's 2-1 win at Purdue Northwest. Saginaw Valley is now tied atop the league standings after the 1-0-1 weekend.
Saginaw Valley, currently ranked No. 13 nationally, hosts a pair of league matches this upcoming weekend. The Cardinals face Ashland Friday (Sep. 29) and Davenport Sunday (Oct. 1). Both will feature a 2:30 p.m. first kick.
