COLUMBUS, Ohio - The contest between the Cardinals and Panthers was cancelled this evening (9/11) due to inclement weather conditions.
The game was called in the 65th minute of play due to lightning. Due to NCAA Rules, 70 minutes of the match must be completed for it to be deemed official. The two schools will attempt to make up this match at a later date.
Head coach Cale Wassermann stated, "It was tough to take, we were 3 minutes away from the game being official but we had to stop in the 67th minute due to lightning. After all that travel you want to play. Both teams did all we could and were willing to stay as late as we could to get the game in but it wasn't in the cards. During them game I thought ODU had the better of possession but the chances were about even, we scored a goal which was called back by the referee for offside but watching the video the goal clearly should have counted. This game will help us build as a program and we are working with the conference and the ODU coaching staff to try and reschedule the game".
The Cardinals will next travel to Tiffin to battle the Dragons on Friday (9/16) with a scheduled start time of 4:30 pm.
