GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The SVSU
men’s soccer team came back from a two-goal deficit late in
the second half to beat Aquinas College 4-3 in overtime today (Oct.
26).
Senior Larry Ferreira (London, Ont./Regina Mundi College) scored
the golden goal in overtime to give the Cardinals the victory, and
netted his first goal late in the second half to bring SVSU within
one goal to tie. Senior Daniel Wragg (Kirton Lindsey, England/Delta
College) scored with just 56 seconds left in the game to knot the
score 3-3.
Senior Brandon LeBlanc (Saginaw, Mich./Delta College) got the
scoring underway in the match at the 13 minute mark in the first
half, which would be the Cardinals’ lone goal until the
offensive explosion late in the match.
The victory improves SVSU’s record to 6-8-2 on the season,
and they remain 1-6 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals will return to
action at 4 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 29) to take on Madonna University
at the SVSU Soccer Complex.
