UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw
Valley State University men’s soccer team broke out of a five
game winless skid in an offensive explosion against Davenport
University today (Oct. 8) 5-1. The Cardinal produced more then
three goals in a game all season, but managed to find the back of
the net on five different occasions against the Panthers.
Senior Brent Walker (Owosso, Mich) had the magic working for the
Cardinals as he netted a hat trick. Walker found the net first in
the 16th minute on a pass from Ryan Seelhoff (Owosso, Mich.) to
give the Cardinals a 1-0 advantage. Walker would find the net one
more time right before the half when he took a pass from Daniel
Simm to gave the Cardinals a 4-0 lead going into the half. Walker
would net his third goal in the 53rd minute on an unassisted goal
to move the score to 5-0.
Vinny Vasilevski (Shelby, Twp., Mich. /Utica Eisenhower) scored
his fourth goal of the season in the first half on one of Kevin
Fox’s (Flushing, Mich.) two assists on the afternoon. Simm
also had a goal to go along with his assist in the first half.
Goalkeeper Luke Deming (Freeland, Mich.) made nine save before
leaving the game with a 5-0 advantage.
The Cardinals move to 3-5-2 on the season while the Panthers fall
to 6-5 on the season. SVSU will return to action when they travel
to Tiffin on October 10th.
