Vogl Named to Division II Men's Golf Committee

UNIVERSIT CENTER -- Saginaw Valley State University Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach Joe Vogl recently began a four-year appointment on the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Committee. Vogl will be one of four members on the committee, serving as the representative for the Central and Midwest Regions.

"I am honored and privileged to be appointed to this NCAA Committee," said Vogl. "Given my years of coaching experience, I'm hopeful I can make a positive contribution to the work that will be asked of me over the next four years."

The committee that Vogl is serving on develops policies and procedures governing the administration and conduct for the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships. In addition, at the regional level, he will be part of a committee that determines the regional rankings and assists in the operation of the Regional Championship.

Vogl has served as the head coach of the Men's Golf program at Saginaw Valley for 23 years in two different stints and has been the head coach of the new women's program for the past two seasons. He has been coaching for 36 years in total. His teams have qualified for the national championships three times, making it to the final national stage in the 1990, 2002 and 2014 campaigns. Joe was a four-year men's golf student-athlete at Saginaw Valley as well, competing for the Cardinals from 1973-1976.
