LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Cardinal men's golf team had a stellar opening day at the 2017 GLIAC Spring Invitational, as the men lead by two strokes after the first 18 holes of play.
SVSU fired a first round score of 286 (-2), two shots clear of second place Grand Valley State. The Cardinals had three players shoot in red figures on the Par 72, 7,013 yard layout of the University Club of Kentucky Big Blue Course. The 286 matches a season-best, which was achieved in the second round of the Kyle Ryman Memorial in October.
Ryan Peruski had the low score of the day for the Cards, shooting a two-under score of 70. He is in second place, trailing Northwood's Cameron Lippoldt by a single stroke.
Round two of the GLIAC South Invite is set for Tuesday morning. The second day will feture a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start in Lexington.
