Cardinals Improve Two Spots to Finish 4th in GLIAC Spring Invitational

NASHPORT, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team improved two spots at the 2015 GLIAC Spring Invitational, following a first round 306 with a 305 on the second day of competition to post a fourth place finish in the event.  

The 611 (+35) total put the Cardinals three strokes behind third place Grand Valley State University.  Lake Superior State University shot a 599 total to win the event by three strokes over Tiffin University.

Senior Jeremy Schultz had the low round on day two for the Cardinals, as he carded a 74 (+2).  He improved 28 places to tie for 44th place after posting a 157 total (+13).

Fellow seniors Micah Skidmore and Wyatt Drost each shot rounds of 76 on the second day of competition.  Skidmore (76-76, +4) finished tied for 18th place while Drost (77-76, +9) tied for 22nd overall.

Sophomore Ryan Peruski shot 73-81 to finish at +10 and in a tie for 25th place.  Senior Carter Marsh had rounds of 80-79 to shoot +15 and finish tied for 50th.

The fourth place finish puts the Cardinals in good position to advance to the 2015 NCAA Division II Super Regionals, but the team will await the finish of the GLVC Men's Golf Championship to see if they will officially qualify for postseason play.
