Men's Golf Competes in AMFAM Spring Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The SVSU men's golf team competed over the past two days at the AMFAM Spring Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana.  Both days featured adverse weather and two hour frost delays in the morning.

The Cardinals struggled to find their stroke in the tournament, finishing the first round with a 316 score on Sunday (Mar. 29) before hitting a 307 Monday (Mar. 30) to place 13th overall with a 623 (+47).  SVSU finished three strokes behind 12th place Bellarmine.  Grand Valley State won the event with a +20 finish of 596, three strokes clear of Indianapolis.

Wyatt Drost had the low round in round one, shooting a 77.  He added a 74 in the second round to finish at 151 (+7), tying for 18th place.

Micah Skidmore was one stroke behind Drost, tying for 25th after shooting 79 on day one and posting the team low with a 73 in the second round.

Carter Marsh (80-78, +14), Ryan Peruski (80-82, +18) and Jeremy Schultz (81-78, +15) rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals in the invite.

Ryan Thomas and Mitch Sikorski competed as individuals in the tournament.  Thomas shot 81-78 to tie for 61st with a +15 total while Sikorski had 88-73 and finished tied for 70th with a +17 mark.

Saginaw Valley hits the links again this weekend, as the Cards compete at the third NCAA Regional tournament at the Elks Run Golf Club.  First round is set for Friday (Apr. 3) and the second for Saturday in Batavia, Ohio.
