Golfers Finish Sixth at SVSU-Hosted Spring Invitational

FLORENCE, Ky. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team finished up play at the 2015 SVSU Spring Invitational on Sunday (Mar. 22), hosted by the Cardinals at the Boone Links Golf Course.

SVSU followed up an opening round score of 309 that had them tied for sixth place with a score of 310.  The two day total of 619 slotted the Cards for a sixth place finish, 10 strokes behind fifth place Walsh University.  Lewis University claimed the team championship, posting a total score of 596, winning by six strokes over Lake Superior State University.

Micah Skidmore had the low round for Saginaw Valley once more, following up his first round 75 with another three-over score of 75.  The 150 total gave him his fifth top-10 finish of the 2014-15 season.  

Carter Marsh matched his first round 78 (+6) with another 78, finishing tied for 23rd with the 156.  Ryan Peruski also had matching rounds for the weekend, shooting twin 79's for a final score of 158, tying him for 33rd overall. 

Wyatt Drost shot a second round 78, rounding-out the scoring for the Cardinals in the second round.  He tied for 40th with teammate Mitch Sikorski with a 160 total.

Jeremy Schultz, competing as an individual, followed a 78 on Saturday with a 76 in the second round, tying for 21st with a tally of 154 total strokes.  

Saginaw Valley will compete next at the Wisconsin Parkside Invitational, set to take place on March 29-30.  The tournament will be played at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana.
