NORTHVILLE - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team finished play over the weekend at the Motor City Invitational in a tie for fourth place. The event was played at the Meadowbrook Country Club in Northville.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was senior Micah Skidmore, who shot a second round 77 to finish with a final score of 153 to tie for fourth place overall.
Sophomore Ryan Peruski matched Skidmore's 77 on day two and finished in a tie for 11th overall with a score of 156.
The low round for SVSU in round two went to senior Wyatt Drost. Drost shot a 74 and would finish in a tie for 13th place with a 157 total score.
Fellow senior Carter Marsh had a 76 on the final 18, tying for 22nd with a 162 final score.
SVSU tied with Walsh University with a team score of 628 (324-304), shaving 20 strokes off its first day total. Wayne State won the tournament as the host with a two-day score of 612 (311-301).
It's on to the 2014 GLIAC Championships for Saginaw Valley, as the Cards travel to Georgetown, Kentucky to participate in the annual championship from Friday (10/10) - Sunday (10/12). SVSU finished in fourth place at last year's championships and Drost will look to defend his medalist honors from the 2013 event as well, when he won the tournament by a stroke.
