Cardinals Sixth After 18 Holes at NCAA Regional #2

BATAVIA, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team finds itself in sixth place after the first day of play at the second NCAA Division II Midwest Regional tournament.  The event is being played at the par-71, 6,845 yard Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio.

SVSU shot a 302 in the opening round, good enough for the fourth place position out of the 29 regional participants.  Malone University and Ferris State University lead the event with a score of 292.  Cedarville has a 296 while the University of Indianapolis and Kentucky Wesleyan College share third with a 301.

Wyatt Drost led the Saginaw Valley scoring for the day, as he shot a 72.  Micah Skidmore carded a 73 for the Cards.

Adam Hansen (77) and Eric Gandy (80) rounded-out the scoring for SV.  Carter Marsh also played, scoring an 81 for the day.

It was a soggy day on the links, as the golfers all played ball-in-hand in their own fairway.  The forecast looks good in the Batavia area for Sunday, however, as the temps are supposed to be in the low 60's with sunshine.

The Cardinals will be teeing-off right around 1:00 pm for the final round on Sunday (Apr. 6).  Stay tuned to for updates on the final results.
