Skidmore Selected for NCAA Super Regionals in Missouri

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Saginaw Valley State University men's golf student-athlete Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich./Home school) has been selected to compete as an individual in regional competition of the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships.

Skidmore will travel to Jefferson City Country Club in Jefferson City, Missouri to participate in the Midwest/South Central Regional which is set for May 7-9 hosted by Lincoln University (Missouri).

The Super Regional consists of both the Midwest and South Central Regions as the top ten teams from each region are selected along with the next four individuals who have not qualified in the team category.

Skidmore, a red-shirt freshman on the SVSU golf team, excelled in his first season of collegiate competition as he has been the top finisher for the Cardinals in nine of ten events this season.

Micah finished in the top-20 eight times, including three tournaments inside the top five with his best coming at the The Jewell where he posted back-to-back rounds of one-under-par 71 to finish runner-up, one shot behind the medalist.

The following teams and individuals have qualified for NCAA Regionals from the Midwest Region:

10. Wayne State (Mich.)

Individuals:

2. Joe Atkisson, Missouri-St. Louis
3. Shawn Vanderwal, Drury
4. Micah Skidmore, Saginaw Valley State

The top five teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 15-19, at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky as part of the 2012 Division II Spring Championships Festival. The Festival will be hosted by Bellarmine University and the Louisville Sports Commission.
