Cardinals Golfers in Fourth, Skidmore Fires One-Under-Par 71, Vogl 72

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team fired a three-over-par 291 in round one of "The Jewell" Great Lakes Regional #2 and sit in fourth place after day one, six shots behind the leaders.

The Cardinals were led by Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich./Home school) who posted a one-under-par 71 and finished in a tie for 9th place after day one. Dustin Vogl (Bay City, Mich./Western HS) found his stroke on Saturday (Mar. 31) and carded his second lowest round of the season, an even-par 72.

Both Wyatt Drost (Charlevoix, Mich.) and Adam Hansen (Auburn, Mich./Bay City Western HS) shot two-over par rounds of 74 at the 6,842-yard, par 72 Cherry Blossom Golf and Country Club layout. Kreg Sherman (Caro, Mich.) rounded out the SVSU scoring with a three-over-par round of 75.

The Saginaw Valley golfers will be back on the course for the final round on Sunday (Apr. 1) morning in an attempt to move up the regional rankings.
