BUTLER, Kent. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team finished in eighth place at the Northern Kentucky University Spring Classic. The Cardinals finished the two-day event with a 26-over par score of 602. SVSU sat in fourth place after day one with a 296 total, but struggled on day two and to post 306. Central Missouri took the team title with a 12-under-par 564 total.
The Cardinals were led by Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich.) who finished in 15th place with an even-par round of 72 on day one, which was followed up by a one-over-par 73 on day two to finish with a 145 total.
Addison Monfils (Big Rapids, Mich.) posted rounds of 76 on day one and 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for 37th with a seven-over-par 151. Troy Quenneville (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne Catholic HS) opened the tournament with an even-par round of 72 on Saturday before struggling on day two firing a nine-over-par 81 to finish in 42nd position with a 153 total.
Dustin Vogl (Bay City, Mich./Western HS) recorded a four-over-par 76 in round one and an 80 in round two to finish in a tie for 53rd. Kreg Sherman (Caro, Mich.) rounded out the Cardinal lineup with rounds of 79 and 78, which placed him in a tie for 57th position.
The Saginaw Valley golfers will return to action next weekend at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational.
