Saginaw Valley in Seventh Place After Round One of NCAA Regionals

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team sits in seventh place with a 302 after round one of the first NCAA Regional of the 2011 season. Indianapolis leads the team competition with a first round 290.

Freshman Wyatt Drost (Charlevoix, Mich.) fired a three-under-par first round 69 and sits in second place overall just two shots off the lead. Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich./Homeschool) posted 76 (+4), while Dan Warner (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill) recorded a 78 in the rainy first round at par 72 HawksHead Golf Links. The Cardinal lineup was rounded out by Adam Hansen (Auburn, Mich./Bay City Western HS) and Troy Quenneville (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne Catholic HS) shooting 79 and 82, respectively.

The first round featured several rain delays and took nearly seven hours to complete.

The second and final round begins Monday morning with a shotgun start at 9:00 am.
