Cardinal Golfers Finish in Fifth Place at Northwood Invite

MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place after a final round 297 at the Northwood University Invitational at Currie West Golf Course in Midland, Mich. The host Timberwolves won the event shooting a two-round 589 total.

Red shirt freshman Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich.) lead the Cardinals with an even-par final round 72 to finish tied for 10th with a 148 total. Junior Adam Hansen (Auburn, Mich./Bay City Western HS) finished one shot back of Skidmore with a one-under par (71) round on Sunday to tie for 13th. Freshman Wyatt Drost posted a second round 72 to move into a tie for 17th with a 150 total. Dustin Vogl (Bay City, Mich./Western HS) and Troy Quenneville (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne Catholic HS) rounded out the scoring with final rounds of 82 and 83, respectively to finish at 160.

Dan Warner (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill) tied for 13th place after posting a two-round 149 total playing as an individual in the tournament.

The Cardinal golf team will compete in the first NCAA Regional of the 2011-2012 season at HawksHead Golf Course in South Haven, Mich. on Sunday (9/25).
