Cardinals Finish Seventh at Al Watrous Memorial

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team shot even-par 288 total in the final round of the Al Watrous Memorial at Bay City Country Club today (9/11). The Cardinals finished in seventh place with a two-day total of eight-over par 584. Ashland University won the tournament with a 10-under par 566.

Micah Skidmore (Saginaw, Mich.) finished tied for 13th after firing a one-under par 71 in the final round to pace the Cardinals with an even-par 144 total. Sophomore Adam Hansen (Auburn, Mich./Bay City Western HS) was one shot back (+1) posting a 145 to finish tied for 16th. Junior Dustin Vogl (Bay City, Mich./Western HS) posted two-under par 70 in the second round to jump into a tie for 19th with a 146 (+2) total. Junior Dan Warner (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill HS) finished with a 149 (+5), while Taylor Walker (Clarkston, Mich.) rounded out the SVSU scoring with a two-day 154 (+10).

Saginaw Valley's "B" team was led by senior Troy Quenneville (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne Catholic HS) who fired a two-day 145 (+1) total to finish tied for 16th. The "B" team shot 601 to finish in eleventh place.

The Cardinal golfers will compete in next weekend's Northwood University Invitational at Currie Golf Course in Midland. The event will begin on Saturday (9/17) with the competition concluding on Sunday (9/18).
