GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team competed over the weekend at The Jewell, which was held at the Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky. The Cardinals finished in 21st place in the event, ending with a total score of 633.
After the opening round, the Cardinals stood in 22nd place. All five competitiors shot in the 80's on day one, with Adam Hansen (Auburn, Mich./Bay City Western HS) shooting the low score of 80.
Day two saw SVSU improve only one place, moving up to #21. Nate Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) followed a first round 82 with a 72 to finish with a 154 (+10). Hansen posted a second round score of 76 to finish at 156 (+12). Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) shot a 161 (82-79) in the event while Dan Warner (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill HS) posted a 163 (86-77) and Eric Gandy (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek HS) had a 164 (86-78) in the tournament.
The Cardinals are back in action on April 10-11 at the third Great Lakes Regional Tournament in Noblesville, Ind.
