Men's Golf Finishes Fifth At The Arendsen Invitational

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Arendsen Invitational, hosted at the Meadows Golf Course by Grand Valley State University.

The Cardinals shot a two-day total of 613, five shots behind fourth-place Ashland University.  The University of Findlay won the 36-hole event with a total of 585, out-distancing themselves from host Grand Valley State by three strokes.

Senior Nate Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) was the top finisher for SVSU once again, finishing with a 144 (E) after shooting twin rounds of 72 in the event.  Senior Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) followed a first round 73 with a 77 to finish tied for 12th with a 150 (+6).  Red-shirt freshman Adam Hansen (Auburn, Mich./Bay City Western HS) tied for 35th, finishing with a 158 (+14).

The Cardinals will compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships Sunday (10/3) and Monday (10/4).  This year's championship will be held at the Grosse Ile Country Club in Grosse Ile, Mich., and will be hosted by Wayne State University.  The format for the tournament features 36 holes on day one and 18 on the second and final day of the championship.
