KINCHELOE,Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University golf team finished in a tie for fifth place at the Lake Superior State University Invitational, held at the Kincheloe Golf Course in Kincheloe, Mich. The Cardinals followed a first round 301 with a 311 to finish at 612 total, tying with Ohio Dominican, Wayne State and Northwood.
Nate Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) earned medalist honors in the tournament, finishing with a two-round total of 143 (-1) to win by three strokes over Northwood's Ron Bonatz. Dan Warner (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill HS) finished in a tie for fourth place, firing a six-over 150 for 36 holes. Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) shot a 158 to tie for 38th in the event, while Adam Hansen (Auburn, Mich./Bay City Western HS) and Dustin Vogl (Bay City, Mich./Bay City Western HS) finished with totals of 162 and 165, respectively for the Cardinals.
SVSU will be back in action September 19-20, when it travels to South Haven, Mich., where the NCAA Regional #1 will be held at HawksHead Golf Course.
