Golf Finishes Ninth At Motor City Invitational


GROSSE ILE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men’s golf team finished in ninth place overall at the Motor City Invitational, hosted by Wayne State University. The Cardinals finished with a three-round 938 (+86). Ferris State University won the event with a total of 880 (+28), four strokes ahead of runner-up host Wayne State.

Nate Kelly was the top finisher for SVSU, finishing with a total of 228 (+15), which placed him in a tie for 26th place overall. Mike Horn was next for the Cardinals, finishing 57th with a 238 (+25) for the three round event. Aaron Peterson of Wayne State earned medalist honors with a two-over total of 215, which landed him two strokes ahead of teammate Joe Joszczyk, who finished with a 217.

The fall portion of the Cardinals’ season is now complete. SVSU will continue play in the Spring when it travels to Findlay, Ohio to take part in the University of Findlay Tournament (Mar. 26-27).
