NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - The Saginaw Valley State University golf team finished the third NCAA Division II Regional Tournament with a 16th-place finish. The tournament was held at the par-72, 7369 yard Purgatory Golf Course in Noblesville, Ind.
Nate Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) was the top finisher for SVSU, carding rounds of 75-72 (+3) to finish in a tie for 12th place. Jonathan Lange (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creeek HS) was next for the Cardinals, finishing with a 74-80 (+10) showing to finish in a tie for 47th place. Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) shot twin rounds of 79, while Rob Ronk (Clarkston, Mich.) hit 79-80 and Dieter Schulz (Fort Gratiot, Mich./Port Huron Northern HS) rounded-out the scoring for the Cardinals with rounds of 83-78.
Findlay's Joe McGeean (68-72) claimed medalist honors for the tournament with a finish of -4. Wayne State won the tournament with a score of 580, 12 strokes ahead of runner-up Ferris State.
SVSU will be back in action at the University of Findlay Invitational, which will take place April 16-17 at the Red Hawk Run Golf Club in Findlay, Ohio.
