Men's Golf Competes In Day One Of NCAA Regional #3

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - The Saginaw Valley State University golf team competed in the first round of the third NCAA Division II Regional Tournament on Sunday, April 11.  The Cardinals sit in a tie for 16th place with Southern Indiana after shooting a score of 307.  The event is being played at the par 72, 7369 yard Purgatory Golf Course in Noblesville, Ind.

Jonathan Lange (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek HS) was the top scorer for the Cardinals in the first round, carding a  two-over 74 (T-24).  Nate Kelly (Suttons Bay, Mich.) sits one stroke behind Lange, as he fired a 75 in the opening round.  Rob Ronk (Clarkston, Mich.) and Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) each recorded rounds of 79, while Dieter Schulz (Fort Gratiot, Mich./Port Huron Northern HS) had and 83 through the first 18 holes.

Wayne State leads the tournament after firing an opening round of 283.  The second round will be played on Monday, Apr. 12.
