Mens Golf Ties for 7th at Great Lakes Regional

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- The SVSU Mens golf team competed in the NCAA DII Regional held at HawkHead in South Haven, Mich. The Cardinals finished tied for seventh in the field of 21 with a two round total of 582 with GLIAC member Wayne State.

Leading the way for the Cardinals was Senior Kasey Hocquard (Cheboygan, Mich.) who led SVSU with a two round total of 138, tied for the third lowest score of the tournament. Hocquard also recorded an ace on the par 3 168 yard third hole. Hocquard became just the fifth SVSU golfer to record and ace in school history. The first SVSU golfer to record and ace was SVSU golf coach Joe Vogl in 1975. Brian King(Livonia, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) put together a solid two round total of 146, including a 72 on day one. Dieter Schulz (Port Huron, Mich.) shot a 71 on day one and a 148 overall, while teammate Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals with a two day total of 151.

The Cardinal will travel to Grand Valley State University next week for preparation for the GLIAC Golf Championships that will be played October 5 and 6 at Bay City Country Club.
