BAY CITY -- Freshman outfielder Cole Brooks has been selected as the GLIAC Player of the Week after his standout performance in league action for the Cardinals.
Brooks had a stellar week for the Cardinals in GLIAC action. He hit .567, going 17-for-30. Brooks drilled five home runs, adding four doubles, a triple and 20 RBI. He had an on-base percentage of .667 and slugged 1.267. The highlight of the week was his 4-4 effort against Tiffin on Monday, including two home runs, a double and eight RBI.
For the season, the freshman is hitting .475 with seven home runs, four doubles, three triples and 25 RBI. He is slugging 1.000 and has an on-base percentage of .569.
Saginaw Valley has a home stretch to finish the 2017 season, as 12 of the remaining 14 games will be played at the SVSU Baseball Complex. The action begins Wednesday (Apr. 19), as the Cardinals resume a postponed game against Northwood at 10:00 a.m. before playing a regularly-scheduled doubleheader after.
